Writing Shop 1.1 - Writing for the Web

How many of you write headlines thinking of search engines (or how they will show up in an RSS feed) in mind?

What about the first graf?

As for the headlines, I've been pretty careful with crafting them since the beginning - even if some of them are a bit long. I don't think I've been paying enough attention to the first graf, though. It popped in my mind tonight after watching this (h/t to SEOBook - and if you're not reading this site, you should be. He knows a lot about web content and web marketing. Good stuffs.):

In the video Cory Doctorow explains that he tries to craft a great first graf because it's usually what will display as the site description in the SERPs (search engine results pages...)

Anyway, just wanted to try to get a conversation about writing specifically for the web going.

Thoughts? Lessons you've learned?
