CMS Talk 1.02 - Thoughts on using Common CMS Platform?
Submitted by kpaul.mallasch on Thu, 09/20/2007 - 00:46.- Forums: CMS - Content Management Systems
I know a few of us are using Drupal. I always thought it would be cool to have a 'basic grassroots journalism site' package for people wanting to get into publishing.
The thing is, the more of us who use common software, the more easily our sites can learn and benefit from each other.
Anyone wanting to jump on the Drupal bandwagon, I'm willing to help and share experiences.

CMS Talk 1.01 - What are you using?

What CMS do you use? What do you like about it? What don't you like about it?
I've been using Drupal for a few months now on Muncie Free Press. I really like it, and I think I've been able to differentiate it from having a 'normal blog' look. I also like all the modules available - the large developer community. There's not much I don't like about it, but it does give me headaches sometimes when I'm trying to combine things to get Drupal to do cool things.

CMS Matrix

If you're looking for information about the various CMS systems out there, CMS Matrix is a good place to start. As they say on the site - great data, ugly site... They could use a good UI overhaul. In any case, lots of good info there.
As time goes on, I'll talk about Drupal and why (at this stage) I've chosen that as my platform. Also semi-related, one of the Knight Foundation grant winners is going to be releasing an open-source version of the software that runs iVillage.
